Retail Buyer and Merchandiser

Malibu Wine Safari is seeking a merchandiser/buyer for its retail store. This is a unique opportunity to conceive and develop an entirely new concept at an extremely in demand destination. The best candidates will have a background in purchasing as well as merchandising for specialty retail locations. They will also be highly motivated to create a complementary experience to the Wine Safari to offer our guests lasting memories of their visit to Saddlerock Ranch.
Description:
  • Set up retail store within MWS check-in area
  • Initial purchase of fixtures and display items
  • Source branded and un-branded merchandise
  • Product knowledge (staff stuff)
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels
  • Negotiate contracts to ensure best deal possible
  • Place orders and ensure appropriate stock levels
  • Merchandise retail store
  • With GM, set appropriate pricing
  • Collaborating with buyers, suppliers, distributors and analysts to negotiate prices, quantities and time-scales
  • Plan and develop merchandising strategies that balance customers expectations and companys objectives
  • Maximize customer interest and sales levels by displaying products appropriately
  • Produce layout plans for stores and maintain store shelves and inventory
  • Forecast profits/sales and plan budgets
  • Monitor stock movement and consider markdowns, promotions, price changes, clear outs etc
  • Build constructive customer relationships and team with channel partners to build pipeline
  • Remain up to date with industrys best practices
Requirements:
  • Proven working experience in merchandising
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Up-to-date with the latest merchandising trends and best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong listening, presentation and decision-making skills
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to decode customers
  • Passion for animal welfare


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
